Sales

We are nearing the end of the month and the Sales Team is definitely feeling the pressure. However, Carter eases the stress by reminding the team that the last day of the month is on a Monday, giving everyone a few extra days over the weekend to close deals. Go Sales Team, go!

Customer Success

Caitlin is formally taking over accounts from Harrison, giving him the chance to now focus on accounts in California. Also, CS is soon bringing on someone to help Rachel with onboarding.

Marketing

From now until MJ Biz Con in November, Marketing will be adding 5 more events onto the calendar. Stay tuned for which events we may need you to staff. Also, the Marketing Team is rolling out a new lead follow-up and tracking system. The Sales Team will be trained up on this new process soon.

Engineering

The Engineering Team is interviewing like crazy and has an offer in place for a front-end developer. Two back-end developers are potentially in the running as well.

Operations

Our careers page still has tons of job openings listed. Please click this link and share on your profiles!

 Product

There are tons of great things on the Product Team's timeline: 24-hour ordering, security for admins, Orders Dashboard upgrade, and enhancements to our website and  Store Location.

Also, it has officially been a month since Alex's bug-tracking form has been shared, and there have already been 107 submissions!

 Shout-Outs

Rachel for being one of the first people into the office, and the last to leave. She is tenacious!

Ryan B on CS for quickly leading the CS team to success, in only his first few weeks!

Sara for working with BD and the Product Team in order to make big moves on brands!

Why did you join Baker? What specific factors contributed to your decision to join the team?

Short answer, the team. The long answer, I was fortunate enough to spend the first three months as a contractor working with the marketing and product team in my role. I've never met a more hard-working group in my life and though everyone has their own role, it all seamlessly comes together. It's a beautiful thing to watch and an even better experience to be apart of.

What goals, personal or professional, do you hope to accomplish in your role?

Professionally, my plan is to push myself more as a developer to my limits as well as take on situations where I can take away more than just an experience from. Personal, I'm a very shy person when it comes to meet new people and I view this as a fresh opportunity to come "out of my shell."

What did you like most about your previous job?

At my previous job, my coworkers were hands down my favorite part of that job. We all worked very well together in and out of the office.

What did you dislike most about your previous job?

On the contrary, the leadership/partners were such a disappointment. Granted, it was a start up, so obviously we had our ups and downs. But we're we're promised so much as their employees and there was no action take to fulfill those promises. Not to mentioned within a few months of my employee the staff eliminated by about 70 percent. The following months were a blind currant if I was going to have a job the next day or not.

What was your previous job?

While finishing out my degree I was working as an Administrative Assistant for a business acquisitions firm based in Denver. Prior to that, I was managing The Health Center-Uhills which is where I was introduced to Baker! While I loved that job, I'm looking forward to helping dispensaries across the PNW get as much out of Baker as The Health Center did.

What is your favorite part about living in Colorado?

Legal cannabis is a major plus to living in Colorado (no more dealers, yay!), but I truly love being able to get outdoors and head into the Rocky's whenever I want. I also like the weather because we go through all of the seasons, but snow never sticks around for too long which is a major plus! There is also such a huge "craft" culture in Denver which makes eating out and bar-hopping really exciting and fun.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time I love visiting as many museums as possible. Being a history major, I geek out about all things history so if i'm not visiting museums, I'm watching documentaries, reading biographies, antiquing, going to auctions and basically doing just anything that allows me to learn something new. When I'm not doing those things, I LOVE going to comedy shows and I also like taking my dog, Elvis, on long trail walks and hikes whenever I can! I'm also always trying to brand out and be more adventurous, like this last month I completed a bucket list item which was flying in a vintage 1930's biplane! (Next up is a hot air balloon!)

What is one thing you want the team to know about you?

I love learning and seeking out new information, so if there is any conference, course offerings, or events going on for either business or the cannabis industry than I would love to go or participate. If there are exciting news stories or studies you hear about, I want to know! I fully believe in continuing my education, no matter the field, so fill me in!

What are you looking forward to the most about working with Baker?

I look forward to showing dispensaries how much they have to gain from using all of Bakers functions. I truly believe that Baker fills a major void in the cannabis industry, so I'm just really excited to help dispensaries excel, while also further legitimizing cannabis. I also looking forward to what Baker has planned for the future and to see the journey that Baker takes as legalization progresses across the country.

Winter - skiing at Copper and Winter Park any free weekend.

What was your previous job?

My job immediately prior to Baker was with a fin-tech company called Enova International, which is filled with really skilled and interesting developers. Unfortunately, the company had predatory pay-day loan holdings - that (combined with health issues) caused me to quit.

What is your favorite part about living in Colorado?

Although I haven’t had a chance to visit them, I am extremely excited about the mountains. As a kid, I would regularly camp in the Smokey Mountains with my family and so I get a strong sense of nostalgia around them. I’m also a fan of hiking. Beyond nature, I’m excited to be in a city/state that is doing well economically.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I play a lot of video games with my wife. We are both hardcore PC gamers and play a lot of Battlefield, Player unknown's Battlegrounds (thanks for the tip, Larry), Factorio and GTA 5. I also program video independent video games and recently started entering game jams which are a lot of fun.

What is one thing you want the team to know about you?

I believe in knowledge sharing and like helping others solve issues they run into or learn new techniques they might not be familiar with. I also like to learn from other people. I believe everyone’s opinions are valuable regardless of professional level or experience.

What are you looking forward to the most about working with Baker?

I’m really excited to work in a new industry. although Baker touches on things that I have experienced in the past (advertising and retail) the industry itself is new and presents interesting challenges.
In addition to this, the people here are smart, progressive and professional -- I’m really looking forward to getting to know everyone and hopefully make some friends on the way.

Why did you join Baker? What specific factors contributed to your decision to join the team?

I joined Baker to work with a team of talented individuals working towards the success of a strong product in the ever growing cannabis industry. I was looking for a team to join and not to become a numbered cog in a large company.

What goals, personal or professional, do you hope to accomplish in your role?

I hope to continue working on my understanding of how to successfully build and manage a software product from a PM and PdM perspective. I also want to continue to grow my ux/ui capabilities. I also want to continue learning how to focus my abundant energy in a healthy and productive manner.

What did you like most about your previous job?

I liked the variety of projects/clients we were working with as well as the group of extremely talented developers and designers that worked there.

What did you dislike most about your previous job?

I was not a fan of the very prescriptive nature of the company and the air of separation between leadership and employees.

Anything else you would like to discuss? This can include topics for the founders, your manager, or any issue/question that’s on your mind. Don’t be shy!

I’m really excited about the opportunity to again work for a smaller company with a team of talented individuals all working towards the same goal. I’m excited about being able to learn about the cannabis industry and how people and groups are working towards solving the many ever changing challenges that the industry faces.
